WILDCATS MAKE HISTORY IN COLLEGE STATION

COLLEGE STATION, TX - The Kentucky women’s track and field team delivered one of its strongest SEC Indoor Championship performances in recent memory this weekend in College Station.

The Wildcats finished fourth overall with 63 points, their highest indoor conference placement since 2022. It marked a historic weekend for the program, as Kentucky totaled three gold medals, one silver, and three bronze, along with 17 all-time program top-10 marks.

Emmi Scales led the charge on the final day, capturing her first career SEC title in the women’s 60m hurdles with a blazing 7.83. In the field events, freshman Kemarah Howard claimed gold in the high jump, clearing 1.87m, a personal best, UK freshman record, and the second-best mark in school history!

Speed was on full display for the Wildcats. Sharmelle Holmes earned silver in the 60m with a career-best 7.19, tying the third-fastest time in program history. Hannah Douglas added bronze in the 400m with a personal-best 51.41, while Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera broke her own school record in the 800m, finishing third in 2:01.40.

Freshman Doricah Minsari Isoe also made history in the mile, running 4:35.71, the second-fastest time ever at Kentucky.

The Wildcats didn’t just win medals, they rewrote the record books.

Now that the conference championships have wrapped up, Kentucky shifts its focus to nationals and then to the outdoor season, carrying championship momentum and confidence with it.
