KENTUCKY TAKES CENTER STAGE ON RARE BANKED TRACK

LOUISVILLE, KY - The Commonwealth became the center of the indoor track world as the 2026 OVC & SIAC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship's were held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center.

The facility, which opened in 2021, features a 200-meter hydraulically banked Mondo track, one of only nine in the United States and the only one in Kentucky. It is considered one of the fastest indoor tracks in the world, and now it has hosted multiple major conference championships in back-to-back weeks.

The OVC Championship marked the 46th men’s indoor meet (dating back to 1976) and the 40th women’s meet (since 1985), adding history to a historic venue.

Morehead State proudly represented Kentucky in the OVC field. Kalynn Pease earned a podium finish, placing third in the Women’s Long Jump Final.

Just one week earlier, the SIAC Indoor Championship was also held in Louisville at the same rare facility. Kentucky State University showed up in a big way. The KSU men finished fourth overall with 77.5 points, while the women also placed fourth with 58 points in team standings. Two Thorobreds earned All-SIAC honors, Yumana Lofton in the men’s 200 meters and Tahja Mims in the women’s 400 meters.

And the momentum continues. The 2026 ASUN Indoor Championships will also take place at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center, featuring in-state programs Bellarmine and EKU.

From OVC to SIAC to ASUN, Louisville is becoming a championship destination.
