LOUISVILLE CITY FC DOMINATES HOME OPENER

LOUISVILLE, KY - Lou City’s 2026 home opener was largely decided in the first half, with the team showing strong control from the start.

Lou City opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Aidan McFadden ran onto a pass across the box and tucked the ball past Miami’s goalkeeper. Ray Serrano scored the second goal 20 minutes later, and Chris Donovan headed home the third, his first for Lou City, just shy of the thirty-minute mark. Miami pulled one back before halftime but was never able to threaten again, managing only one other shot on goal in the 90-plus minutes of the match.

The three-goal difference does not tell the full story of Lou City’s dominance. The team relentlessly attacked, tallying 26 shots to Miami’s 7, 8 shots on goal to 2, and 12 corner kicks to 0.

Head coach Danny Cruz emphasized the team’s intensity, especially in the first half, which had been a focus after last week’s opener in Lexington.

“I think most importantly, actually, we grew from the game against Lexington,” he said. “Which is really what we were looking for.”

Lou City’s unbeaten streak in regular season home matches has now reached 25. The team will look to continue that momentum on Wednesday, March 18, when they host Southern Indiana FC in the opening round of the U.S. Open Cup.
