RACERS REPEAT! MURRAY STATE DOMINATES MVC TITLE GAME IN ST. LOUIS

Coralville, IA - Murray State left no doubt on Sunday evening, rolling past Evansville 91-70 to claim back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference championships and punch its ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

The Racers’ offense was electric from the start. Murray State shot 51% from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers, stretching the floor and keeping Evansville on their heels all night. The Racers built momentum with a 13-0 run and never looked back, pushing their lead to as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Halli Poock led the way with an outstanding performance, scoring 33 points while hitting 6 three-pointers. Haven Ford added 18 points and four threes of her own, giving Murray State a dangerous one-two punch from the perimeter.

Inside, the Racers controlled the glass. Sharnecce Currie-Jelks was EVERYWHERE, finishing with 16 rebounds and 7 assists while anchoring the defense and sparking fast breaks.

The team effort showed in the box score. Murray State tallied 17 assists and forced key turnovers that turned into easy points. Defensively, the Racers stayed active and limited Evansville’s outside shooting to just four made threes.

Head coach Rechelle Turner’s squad looked very poised and confident throughout the game, executing on both ends of the floor. With balanced scoring, strong rebounding, and tough defense, Murray State proved once again why they sit atop the MVC.

The Racers now head to the NCAA Tournament riding the momentum of back-to-back conference championships and one of their most complete performances of the season.
