KENTUCKY TAKES DOWN OKLAHOMA, CLIMBS TO NO. 12 IN THE NATION

NORMAN, OKLA. - Kentucky made a statement Saturday night, beating Oklahoma 21-13 at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in SEC play, extending their winning streak to five games and moving into a tie with Georgia for first place in the conference.
The win also pushed Kentucky from No. 15 to No. 12 in the Associated Press Top 25. It marks the Wildcats’ highest ranking since September 26, 2022, when they reached No. 7. Kentucky is now just two spots outside the top 10 and has won three SEC road games for the first time since 2009.
Kentucky opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown pass from Kenny Minchey to Willie Rodriguez, but Oklahoma took a 10-7 halftime lead and extended it to 13-7 in the third quarter.
Minchey and Rodriguez connected again in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard touchdown pass to put Kentucky ahead 14-13. The defense then took over. Jordan Castell returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown with 1:17 remaining, and Ty Bryant recorded another interception with 21 seconds left to seal the victory.
Castell and Bryant each finished with two interceptions as Kentucky picked off Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer four times and recorded five sacks. Minchey completed 21 of 28 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while Rodriguez caught five passes for 38 yards and both scores.
The Wildcats now return home to face Vanderbilt on Saturday, October 24, at Kroger Field, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
