FRANKFORT, KY. - The Kentucky State Thorobreds are making their move. After a last-second 27-24 win over Savannah State, KSU has climbed to No. 10 nationally in the NCAA Division II Power Index (NPI) rankings and sits No. 1 in Super Region Two.

The Thorobreds pulled off a wild comeback on Senior Day, with A’iyon Carter catching a 48-yard touchdown pass from Juan Gainous with just 21 seconds left to seal the win.

Gainous threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns, while Carter finished with 10 catches for 119 yards and the game-winning score. On defense, Lawrence McConnell made a huge impact with two interceptions, including an 84-yard pick-six.

Kentucky State enters its bye week at 7-2 overall and 6-1 in SIAC play, sitting at the top of the conference standings. The Breds will return to action Nov. 7 against Morehouse in the YES Bahamas HBCU Classic in Nassau, Bahamas.

The goal now is to keep winning. A strong finish could put the Thorobreds in position to compete for the SIAC championship and potentially host the title game in Frankfort. With the Division II playoffs also approaching, every game matters.

Head coach Felton Huggins and the Breds have a chance to make this season even more special. First, they have business to handle in the Bahamas.
