KENTUCKY STATE SHUTS OUT MILES COLLEGE IN HOMECOMING WIN

FRANKFORT, KY. - Kentucky State football gave its Homecoming crowd a performance to remember, shutting out Miles College 46-0 on Saturday at Alumni Stadium. The Thorobreds improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play with the dominant victory.
Kentucky State got on the board early when Aiyon Carter scored on a 19-yard run. The offense continued to find the end zone, with Joshua Thomas Jr. catching a 46-yard touchdown pass from Cam Tucker and Tray Blackmon Jr. adding a rushing score. The Thorobreds took a 22-0 lead into halftime.
The defense took over in the third quarter. Jaden Hale caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Denim Johnson before Roman Hernandez returned an interception 58 yards for a score. Moments later, Lensley Dieujuste returned another interception 35 yards for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 43-0.
Kentucky State finished with 431 yards of total offense, while the defense held Miles to 274 yards and forced two interceptions. The Thorobreds never allowed Miles to score, giving the Homecoming crowd a complete team effort.
The win keeps Kentucky State in second place in the SIAC standings behind Edward Waters, which handed the Thorobreds a 61-42 loss earlier this season. With Edward Waters sitting at 4-0 in conference play and Kentucky State at 4-1, catching the top spot will be difficult. Still, the Thorobreds have an opportunity to finish strong and potentially earn another shot at Edward Waters in the conference championship.
Kentucky State returns to Alumni Stadium on October 17 to face Lane as it looks to keep its momentum going.
