CATS TAKE CONTROL IN COLUMBIA

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Kentucky walked into Colonial Life Arena and left with a tough 72-63 SEC road win over South Carolina.

The Wildcats leaned on defense and rebounding to get it done. Kentucky shot 39% from the field and hit seven three-pointers, but the real difference came on the glass. The Cats dominated rebounds 48-28, including 18 offensive boards that led to second-chance points.

Denzel Aberdeen led the offense with 19 points, knocking down 4-of-6 from three and adding five assists. Collin Chandler added 10 points, while Andrija Jelavic scored 11. Malachi Moreno controlled the paint with 11 rebounds and two blocks.

Defense set the tone all night. Kentucky forced 12 turnovers and grabbed eight steals. Otega Oweh was everywhere defensively, finishing with five steals and helping disrupt South Carolina’s rhythm. The Gamecocks shot just 37% from the field.

South Carolina was led by Meechie Johnson’s 18 points, but Kentucky never let the crowd take over. When shots weren’t falling, the Wildcats trusted their defense and team effort.
