CATS SHOW FIGHT IN NASHVILLE BATTLE

NASHVILLE, TN - Kentucky Women’s Basketball showed toughness and heart Saturday afternoon, battling until the final seconds in an 81-79 thriller against Vanderbilt at Memorial Gymnasium.

The Wildcats were sharp offensively. Kentucky shot 46.9% from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers. Amelia Hassett knocked down five shots from deep and finished with 15 points, stretching the defense all afternoon. Clara Strack led the way with 17 points and added four blocks, protecting the rim and anchoring the defense.

Tonie Morgan controlled the game at point guard, finishing with 10 points and nine assists. Her leadership kept Kentucky steady, especially during key runs. Asia Boone added 13 points, while Teonni Key battled inside and finished strong around the rim.

Defensively, Kentucky made big plays. The Wildcats recorded nine steals and seven blocks, turning stops into fast-break opportunities. They also led for more than 30 minutes, showing composure on the road in a tough SEC environment.

It was a true team effort. Eight Wildcats scored, and the bench contributed valuable minutes. Kentucky responded every time Vanderbilt made a run, keeping the pressure on until the final possession.

Games like this build toughness. The Cats proved they can compete with anyone and continue to grow as postseason play approaches.

Kentucky now stands at 20-8 overall, 7-7 in SEC play and currently ranked 16th in the nation.
