CATS MARCH PAST ARKANSAS IN TOURNAMENT OPENER

GREENVILLE, SC - No. 9 Kentucky wasted no time making a statement in the SEC Tournament, rolling past Arkansas 94-64 on Wednesday morning at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The Wildcats came out on fire. Kentucky jumped to a 29-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Strong shooting and sharp ball movement set the tone early, and the Hogs couldn’t recover.

Offensively, Kentucky shot 48.6% from the field and knocked down 10 three-pointers. Clara Strack led the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds, dominating inside. Amelia Hassett added 18 points, going 6-for-11 from three-point range. Tonie Morgan controlled the game at point guard, finishing with 14 points and 10 assists.

Defense also played a major role. The Cats held Arkansas to just 36.4% shooting and forced tough shots all afternoon. Kentucky controlled the boards 52-27 and turned second-chance opportunities into 17 points. Their presence in the paint and effort on the glass made the difference.

It was a full team performance. Five Wildcats scored in double figures, and the bench matched Arkansas with 20 points. The energy, depth, and focus showed why Kentucky is one of the top teams in the tournament.

With the win, Kentucky improves to 22-9 overall and advances to Round 2 of the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats will face No. 8 Georgia tomorrow at 11 a.m. in what should be a great matchup between the No. 9 and No. 8 seeds.
