CARDINALS PUSH NO. 9 OLE MISS TO THE FINAL SECOND

Louisville gave No. 9 Ole Miss everything in a 41-38 prime-time battle at Nissan Stadium on Sunday night.

The Cardinals and Rebels were tied 24-24 at halftime, and the game stayed close all the way to the final seconds. Louisville tied the game at 38-38 with 1:28 remaining, but Ole Miss answered with a 48-yard field goal as time expired.

Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz had an impressive first start since high school. He completed 18 of 29 passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 69 yards and scored a touchdown, giving Louisville a strong performance from its new quarterback on a major stage.

The Cardinals also received big plays from Tre Richardson and Lawayne McCoy. Richardson hauled in a 62-yard touchdown, while McCoy added a 54-yard touchdown reception.

Louisville’s defense made important plays throughout the night, including an interception by Stanquan Clark and a fumble recovery by Brycen Scott. The Cardinals continued to battle even after Ole Miss took control early in the second half.

Louisville may have left Nashville with a loss, but the performance showed plenty of fight, talent and promise. The Cardinals competed with one of the country’s top teams and have a lot to build on moving forward.
